Overview
Ipamorelin is a selective pentapeptide growth-hormone secretagogue acting at the ghrelin (GHS-R1a) receptor. Its selectivity is why it is so often chosen as the comparator sequence in endocrine bench research.
Background
It was developed as a cleaner successor to earlier secretagogues that also moved cortisol and prolactin in study models; the short five-residue design retained receptor activity while dropping much of that cross-reactivity.
