Overview
Thymosin Alpha-1 is a 28-amino-acid N-terminally acetylated peptide originally isolated from thymic tissue, and a standard sequence in immunological and Toll-like-receptor research.
Background
It was purified from thymosin fraction 5 in the 1970s during efforts to identify which components of thymic extract carried immune-modulating activity; it remains one of the best-characterised peptides from that work.
